Residents can now apply for their free Kenilworth Castle passes online, via the town council website.

Plans to bring the permits "into the 21st century" were announced in March after councillors unanimously backed a proposal to digitise the applications.

Residents can now fill out the form, on the Kenilworth Town Council website, and upload a digital photograph - replacing the need to send paper copies to Jubilee House.

Once the form has been received and checked, applicants will be asked to pay the £5 fee via bank transfer.

Passes, which are valid for ten years, will be produced using a new card printer, and are expected to be posted within ten working days.

And for those who would prefer not to use the online form, paper copies will still be available from a folder attached to the front of Jubilee House.

Residents have been given free entry to the castle for over half a century since it was given to Kenilworth Town Council by Cyril Siddeley, 2nd Baron Kenilworth.

Free passes are available for all residents of Kenilworth parish aged 16 years and over. Children under 15 years are entitled to free entry with an adult pass holder.
