A Kenilworth author has announced the release date for her latest children's book inspired by the local wildlife.

The latest in Julia Rawlinson's Fletcher's Four Seasons series – 'Fletcher and the Rainbow' – will be widely available from August 26.

The sixth book in the series, Fletcher and the Rainbow is based in autumn and tells the story of how curios fox Fletcher discovers a dazzling rainbow and becomes determined to help it shine forever.

Guided by his friends, he chases it through the dripping wood, but the rainbow soon starts to fade.

Once the last scrap of colour is gone, Fletcher feels he has failed, until he realises he can create his very own rainbow with the many colourful fruits, berries and leaves that surround him in the forest.

The latest edition, which has once again been illustrated by Tiphanie Beeke, has already enjoyed a successful pre-publication release to independent bookshops and children's libraries.

Following the re-release of the original Fletcher's Four Seasons in 2020, Fletcher and the Rainbow is the second of four brand new stories.

The first of these, 'Fletcher and the Caterpillar' was published earlier this year in March.

Publishers Graffeg said: "A story of hope, friendship and exploration, Fletcher and the Rainbow is the perfect introduction to the many colours of nature, encouraging children to explore the world around them and have fun with friends.

"Accompanied by beautiful and atmospheric illustrations by Tiphanie Beeke, this gentle and uplifting tale provides the perfect opportunity to discuss colours, colour theory and how rainbows are formed with children, challenge them to think creatively to solve a problem and, mostly importantly, demonstrates how to have fun in nature."
