Kenilworth author announces release of latest volume in children's book series

By James Smith 5th Aug 2021

Kenilworth-based author Julia Rawlinson has announced the release date for the latest book in her 'Fletcher's Four Seasons' series for children.

'Fletcher and the Caterpillar' is the fifth story following the adventures of easily-confused Fletcher the Fox, and will be available for purchase from March 23 2021.

As the series title suggests, each book is based on a different season, with book number five returning to spring.

In this story, Fletcher finds a caterpillar under a juicy green leaf. With the help of his friends, he introduces it to lots of games, but all it wants to do is munch. When Caterpillar stops munching, Fletcher is worried, but as spring turns to summer something magical is about to happen.

Illustrated by Tiphanie Beeke, the story incorporates a number of key teaching points for learning both at home and in school.

These include the importance of friendship, caring for others, sharing your worries, accepting others for the way they are and coping with change, as well as the lifecycle of a butterfly and the changes of the seasons.

As well as the release of Fletcher and the Caterpillar, publishers Graffeg have also announced the next three volumes in the series.

'Fletcher and the Rainbow' is due for publication this summer, whilst 'Fletcher and the Rockpool' and 'Fletcher and the Stars' will come out in 2022.

Julia said: "Tiphanie Beeke's beautiful illustrations couldn't be more perfect for Fletcher's stories, and it's an absolute joy to be working with her on these new seasonal adventures."

Tiphanie Beeke adds: "I was over the moon to be given the opportunity of working with Julia Rawlinson again. It is a joy to be able to bring Fletcher's adventures to life in four more wonderful stories which both children and adults can enjoy."

Fletcher and the Caterpillar will be available from March 23 2021, and is available for preorder now.
