Public information event announced for planned changes at Kenilworth Fire Station
Locals can find out more about controversial plans to change the set up at Kenilworth Fire Station later this month.
On January 24 a public information event will be held at the School Lane station, giving residents the chance to quiz Warwickshire County Council on the proposals.
The authority is currently consulting on its resource to risk proposals which propose to get rid of the current on-call system in favour of more fixed shifts to meet demand.
The new system will direct resources to more wholetime firefighters in the day where the demand for services is much higher with part-time evening shifts and places on surge teams – on-call personnel brought in for anticipated or emergency peaks in demand – supplementing a better level of overall service.
The information event starts at 6.30pm and will finish at 8pm.
Places are limited so anyone wanting to attend must book a ticket. These are allocated on a first come, first served basis, though if an event is fully booked, there is an opportunity to join a waiting list.
The public consultation is open until 10 March 2024, giving everyone a chance to view the details of the proposal and give their feedback.
Cllr Andy Crump, portfolio holder for fire and rescue and community safety, said: "The public consultation gives everyone a chance to have their say on our proposals, but we're also keen to give people a chance to hear from us in person and to ask any questions they may have.
"No decisions will be made until the consultation is over, so we hope our residents will take this opportunity and join us at one of our information sessions to find out more."
