Police are now "extremely worried" for the welfare of a missing 86-year-old man from Kenilworth, who was last seen on Tuesday (December 3) morning.

A "significant" number of officers were out searching for John yesterday, with a police helicopter also joining the search.

He was last seen walking on Purlieu Lane at 8.45am on Tuesday.

"We are now extremely concerned for John's safety and we ask that you call 999 straight away if you see someone matching his description," a Warwickshire Police statement said.

"He is described as around 5'11" tall, of medium build and he may be wearing a navy blue cap, navy blue quilted jacket and navy blue/grey trainers.

"If you need to call us, please quote incident number 158 of 3 December."
