When will town centre lights be turned on as Kenilworth's Christmas light switch on cut back?

Town councillors have made a decision about when the Christmas lights will be turned on in the town centre this year.
In previous years, the town has had two events to kick-start the festive season, one on High Street and the second on Warwick Road.
But for 2026, Warwick District Council has decided not to host a full town centre event, instead hosting a 'festive hub' with no light switch on.
The High Street switch on is still set to take place on Friday 27 November, and will this year see all the lights across the town turned on at the same time.
"I think that as the district council are not holding a light switch on event, that the lights for the whole of Kenilworth are switched on at our light switch on event at High Street," Cllr Kate Dickson said at the most recent Kenilworth Town Council meeting.
"So when the lights are switched on at the High Street, they go on all over town."
Councillors voted unanimously in favour of this.
The traditional event on High Street has once again been organised by Kenilworth Town Council, Old Town Community Events and the High Street Illuminations Committee, and will have entertainment, food and drink from 5pm to 8pm.
The lights will be switched on at High Street and across the town at 6pm by the Mayor of Kenilworth, Cllr Alison Insley.
