Plans to build two five-bedroom homes on a piece of scrubland in Burton Green have been put forward to the district council.

Westwood Grange Homes Ltd has applied for planning permission for the two detached properties on Red Lane.

Plans state the 0.4 hectare plot would also contain a wildflower meadow to "promote biodiversity".

"It is proposed to construct two detached properties, each with a building footprint of approximately 185sq.m and total floor area of 300sq.m over two floors," the application said.

"The height to the ridge will be no more than 9m.

"About half of the plot size will be allocated to wildflower meadow to promote biodiversity."

It added: "The dwellings have been designed to provide a sociable open plan living space with separate study rooms for home working and integral double garages on the ground floor.

"Five bedrooms including several en-suite facilities and family bathrooms on the first floor."

The plot of land was last year put on the market for £600,000.

At the time it was described as "an ideal opportunity for a self-build in a quite stunning setting on the fringe of Kenilworth"

Planning permission for a detached house and garage for the site was initially refused by Warwick District Council with planners saying it would be inappropriate development in the green belt.

However the decision was overturned on appeal in October 2021.

The planning inspector said building a house on the site would not spoil the character of the area.
