Plans pulled for 'ugly and intrusive' 5G mast near Kenilworth homes following multiple objections

Plans to install a new 5G mast on the edge of Kenilworth have been pulled after locals labelled the designs "ugly and obtrusive".
A swathe of objections were submitted to the application from Cornerstone Telecommunications Infrastructure Ltd which would have seen a 20-metre high monopole built on a verge along Leamington Road.
Cornerstone had already been refused planning permission for a pole on the same road, with Warwick District Council planners saying alternative sites had not been considered.
While the latest application said the spot near the new build development on the edge of Kenilworth was the best site, the application has now been withdrawn from consideration.
Some 40 locals had objected to the plans.
Concerns included the proximity to the homes, the design of the structure and the impact on Bullimore Wood.
In its application, Cornerstone said it had a mast at Kenilworth Wardens sports club on Glasshouse Lane, but a notice to quit has been served.
Cornerstone said it is vital a new site is found to ensure "continued reliable mobile digital connectivity" is provided to the area.
Meanwhile Icon Tower Infrastructure Limited has recently received prior approval to replace an existing mast further down Leamington Road.
