Plans to create a "multipurpose all-weather facility" at Burton Green Village Hall have been put forward to council planners.

If approved, the application would see the new facility created next to the Red Lane facility.

"The current project for which we are now seeking permission will deliver a fenced area, screened by planting, with a covered seating area to provide shade and shelter, and to reduce any ambient noise," the application said.

"The shelter would include lockable equipment storage, an open area of seating for spectators, and a serving hatch for refreshments.

"The multipurpose hardstanding area would enable the establishment of a pétanque club, as well as other village and group activities such as pop-up badminton, volleyball, event marquee, etc.

"The space would be usable all year round."

The application to Warwick District Council said a public consultation was held in September 2024 to find out whether locals wanted a pétanque facility as well as a multi-purpose outdoor space.

"There was an overwhelming level of support for the proposal, with 73 responses (87 per cent) in favour, and 75 per cent of respondents wishing to play pétanque themselves," the application continued.

"Fifty-nine per cent of respondents were committed to playing all year round, and not just in the summer months."

The new village hall was opened at Burton Green in 2023, having been funded by HS2.

The old hall was demolished to make way for the new rail line.
