Plans for new specialist school revealed for local business park

A new specialist primary school with 48 places could open near Kenilworth.
An education group wants to turn an empty office building in Westwood Business Park into the facility.
It comes after almost 300 extra special school places in the city took steps forward earlier this year.
Provider Outcomes First Group claimed there is a "clear need" for more of this type of provision in Coventry, according to plans filed on their behalf.
They warned that without more places more children from the city will have to travel outside it for their schooling.
A statement read: "The school will help meet both the existing and future needs for specialist education provision in Coventry and surrounding areas.
"This would reduce both the current number of children who need to travel 'out of area' to find an appropriate education environment and overcrowding in existing settings." Outcomes First Group plans to hire 40 staff for the school and would build a garden, play area and landscaping on the site.
They would convert two-storey office block CEL House into the school. The building has been empty for over three years amid a "lack of demand" in the office market in the city in the past few years, the statement added.
Plans were validated by Coventry council this week, 31 March 2025.
