Overnight A46 closures for bridge works begin

Overnight closures for the A46 for bridge works around Warwick have begun this week.
A series of maintenance works for the bridge near Guys Cliffe are needed, National Highways has said.
Works will see the dual carriageway shut southbound between Kenilworth and Leek Wootton at night this week.
The carriageway will be shut on 30 July, 31 July, 1 August, and again on 12 September from 8pm to 5am each day.
"Once complete, road users will benefit from a safer, smoother road whilst reducing the need for future maintenance," National Highways said.
Closures to the northbound carriageway between Budbrooke and Leek Wootton will take place on 18 September, 19 September, 22 September, 23 September, and 24 October.
During the closures, there will be fully signed diversions in place.
To complete the second phase of work, traffic management will be installed:
- From 4 August to 11 September, between 8pm and 5am, Monday to Friday only – A46 southbound closed between the exit and entry slip at Leek Wootton.
- From 5am on Saturday 13 September to 5am on Monday 15 September – A46 southbound closed between the exit and entry slip at Leek Wootton.
- On 15 September and 16 September, between 8pm and 5am – A46 southbound closed between the exit and entry slip at Leek Wootton.
- From 24 September to 23 October, between 8pm and 5am, Monday to Friday only – A46 northbound closed between the exit and entry slip at Leek Wootton.
- From 5am on Saturday 25 October to 5am on Monday 27 October – A46 northbound closed between the exit and entry slip at Leek Wootton.
- On 27 October and 28 October, between 8pm and 5am – A46 northbound closed between the exit and entry slip at Leek Wootton.
Throughout the second phase there will be a small diversion through the junction at Leek Wootton using the A46 exit and entry slip roads.
Works will include re-waterproofing of the bridge, replacing bridge joints, resurfacing and safety barrier repairs.
"To carry out the work safely and reduce disruption, most of the work will be carried out under narrow lanes reducing the impact to the road user," National Highways continued.
"To maintain safety, there will also be a reduced speed limit of 60mph along with speed enforcement."
