Kenilworth Runners has been forced to cancel its May Day Mile and Schools Challenge event this weekend.

Hundreds of runners were expected to head to Abbey Fields for the annual May bank holiday fun run on Monday (May 5).

But the event has been cancelled after Warwick District Council said the we weather had made the ground unsuitable.

"We're sorry to report that due to the wet ground conditions in Abbey Fields, the council have informed us we are unable to hold our event this year," a Kenilworth Runners statement said..

"We will process refunds to all entrants in the next few days and hope we can bring running events back to Abbey Fields in future.

"Please get in touch with any questions or issues."
