Police are appealing for witnesses after a cyclist allegedly had a "heavy object" thrown at him in Kenilworth.

Warwickshire Police said on 7 January at around 9.30am, a male cyclist on Borrowell Lane allegedly had the object thrown at him from a moving vehicle travelling in the opposite direction.

It allegedly hit the cyclist in the stomach, causing bruising.

The car was reportedly a dark coloured Vauxhall.

"We are appealing for any witnesses who could help us with our investigation, including the driver of the black Audi A3 that was behind the Vauxhall," a force spokesperson said.

"If you saw anything or have any dashcam or CCTV footage that could help us, contact us citing crime number 23/1570/24."
