NHS bosses asked to publish Kenilworth health hub study

Councillors are set to urge NHS commissioners to act on delivering new health facilities in Kenilworth.
Warwick District Council has spent a fair chunk of this calendar year leading a government-funded feasibility study into a potential new health and wellbeing hub in the town amid concerns over capacity at GP surgeries and the prospect of more new homes coming through the emerging South Warwickshire Local Plan.
The feasibility study not only considered whether new provision was required but also the potential to expand facilities that already exist.
Proposals for more than 700 extra houses to the south of the town have proved controversial with Councillor Richard Dickson (Kenilworth St John's) last week reporting at full council that respondents to the latest local plan consultation had again highlighted concerns over health provision.
In a question to portfolio holder for place Cllr Chris King, Cllr Dickson called on Coventry & Warwickshire Integrated Care Board (ICB) – the body responsible for commissioning NHS services in the area – to not only publish the study's key findings but also set out how and when it would act on them.
"One of the most frequently expressed concerns by residents of all ages was about the need for enhanced health and wellbeing infrastructure facilities in Kenilworth," said Cllr Dickson.
"Would you join me in asking the Coventry & Warwickshire Integrated Care Board, to whom the feasibility study has been sent, to acknowledge these concerns, to put at least an abridged version of the report in the public domain as soon as possible, and to produce a clear timetable for acting on the study's recommendations?"
Cllr King offered no opinion but confirmed he would take the action requested.
