The brewery behind Kenilworth's oldest pub is advertising for new tenants to create "a new chapter in its 460-year history".

Leicester-based Everards is on the lookout for someone to take over at the Virgins & Castle on High Street.

The pub was taken over by hospitality firm Caviar & Chips just weeks before the first Covid-19 lockdown in 2020.

Since then the catering business has launched a number of community events and initiatives at the pub, and scooped TripAdvisor's prestigious Travellers' Choice Award in 2021.

But now Everards has put an advert on its website asking for potential new tenants to get in touch.

"The Virgins and Castle is an iconic pub located on the old High Street in the vibrant town of Kenilworth, just down the road from the historic castle," the advert said.

"It is a popular destination for both locals and tourists and while it's already a successful business, there is still plenty of potential for growth."

Caviar & Chips first saw the vacancy for the Virgins and Castle in October 2019. Business partners Marc Hornby and Jonathan Carter-Morris discussed the possibility of running their own pub at length, and then pitched their vision for the pub to Everards Brewery that December, reopening on March 13 2020.

The pub was then heavily involved in cooking and delivering meals for isolated people within the town during the pandemic.

Caviar & Chips also took over the Racehorse in Warwick in 2022, rebranding it as No.34 Garden & Grill. However, the business closed after just six months.

"With its rich history and unique ambiance, this pub has the potential to become the most sought-after venue in Kenilworth," the advert for the Virgins & Castle explained.

It added: "We are seeking an experienced and passionate individual with a flair for food, drinks, and events.

"Someone who can maintain the pub's excellent standards and take it to new heights, making it the ultimate destination for food and drinks in Kenilworth."
