Road and lane closures have been confirmed by the county council so the new bridge deck can be put in place across the A46 at Stoneleigh.

Having started in December 2020, the £38 million works at Stoneleigh Junction will also see a new roundabout built at the site.

Warwickshire County Council had initially announced that the bridge deck would be moved in December but this was pushed back to January "to minimise disruption during the Christmas period".

The council has now confirmed the following closures:

15-17 January – A46 Northbound reduced to one lane and A46 Southbound lane three closure. Specialist equipment to be delivered to allow for bridge deck move.

20-22 January 2023 – A46 Mainline reduced to one lane in each direction and Stoneleigh Road Closed over the A46. To enable the new A46 Bridge deck to be moved into place.

Diversion routes will be in place throughout.

WCC says the new junction will reduce the regular delays and queueing traffic, improve road safety and ensure the junction can cope with more vehicles to cope with all the houses being built nearby.

Cllr Wallace Redford, portfolio holder for transport and highways, said: "These lane closures are essential in order to allow for delivery and installation of the bridge deck, which forms part of the Stoneleigh Junction Improvement Scheme.

"We would like to sincerely thank local residents for their continued patience with these essential developments to the junction, which forms part of this Council's commitment to ensuring that residents are supported through excellent transport infrastructure."
