Kenilworth's new on-demand bus service begins today, replacing the former number 16 service to Warwick.
The new IndieGo PLUS service was announced by Warwickshire County Council last month as a 'game changing' replacement to traditional buses.
But the news has been met with mixed responses, with MP for Warwick and Leamington Matt Western calling on the council to rethink the plans.
"What residents want is regular, dependable and cheap services - but with the introduction of the new demand-responsive service they will not get that," he said.
"I understand the conundrum for the county council because budgets for public transport are being continually cut by the government which leaves it in a difficult position.
"This is not to say, however, that the change of service was unavoidable."
The new service, which is provided by Liftango, allows residents to book a journey via an app or through a call centre.
Residents have been able to book a trip in advance from Tuesday, 19 May.
Journeys start at £4, with discounts for children.
And from 20 June it will be possible to book journeys two weeks in advance.
All vehicles will be ramp-accessible for wheelchair users and will feature Wi-Fi and USB charging points.
The number 16 served Hatton Park, Hampton Magna, Warwick, Leek Wootton and Kenilworth.
Cllr Wallace Redford, WCC's portfolio holder for transport and highways, said: "The IndieGo PLUS service in Hatton and West Warwick will truly be a game changer for public transport in Warwickshire and a real demonstration to the council's commitment to ensuring its residents are supported through excellent transport infrastructure while creating and county that is sustainable now and for future generations.
"I hope to see as many residents as possible taking advantage of this early booking period to book their IndieGo PLUS journey."
