A new defibrillator has been installed on the exterior of the Priory Theatre building in Kenilworth, giving access to the life-saving device to the entire community.

Thanks to the generosity of a long-standing member of the Priory Theatre and with some input from Kenilworth HeartSafe (KHS), the 29th Automated External Defibrillator (AED) has now been installed.

Anna Cousins, whose husband Jonathan died in 2022 of a cardiac arrest, has overseen a bequest from her late husband in favour of the Priory Theatre which has enabled the theatre to install a 24/7 publicly accessible AED on the front wall of the Theatre which faces onto Rosemary Hill.

This new defibrillator will be available 24 hours a day to users of the theatre but also to anyone taken ill in Abbey Fields Park and the surrounding areas.

"Although we hope it will never be needed, the defibrillator comes with easy-to-follow instructions for anyone who has a requirement and could make the difference between life and death," organisers said.

Further information about Kenilworth HeartSafe; the location of all AED's in and around Kenilworth; its CPR training programme and ways of making donations to support the "Saving Lives in Kenilworth" campaign can be found online.
