A Kenilworth masseuse is trying to change peoples' view on Thai massage, encouraging them to come and try her services.

Kannika Jannongwa offers Thai massage, as well as a variety of other beauty treatments, from Nick's Hair & Beauty at The Square.

Having been born and raised in Thailand, before moving to Amsterdam for 10 years, Kannika has lived and worked in Kenilworth as since 2020, launching her business Mandala Spa & Wellness.

And while she says business continues to grow, she says people are still unaware of the real benefits of Thai massage.

"Some people have the wrong idea of Thai massage, but I want to get the respect back for the practice of Thai massage and let people know it is really important and beneficial," she told Nub News.

"There are a lot of benefits of Thai massage. It gets really deep, getting into your nerves, and recharging your energy.

"People with pain or stress can have a Thai massage to help, it is one of the best options for them.

"And it can also benefit those with sleep problems, office syndrome and emotional problems to refresh the body, clearing your mind.

"I always hear from my clients that they feel taller, or lighter after they have had a massage, and it really helps their normal life."

Originally from Thailand, Kannika lived in Amsterdam for 10 years before moving to England in 2020 (image supplied)

Kannika says she gave her first massages to family members as a child, before deciding to become a hairdresser and beauty practitioner.

It was not until she moved to Europe that she turned it into her profession.

"I always had to give my mum and my aunty massages when I was little, which I really hated at the time," she explained.

"I became a hairdresser, but when I moved to Amsterdam, a lot of people asked for massage so I started getting into it again.

"For the first two years I still didn't like it, but now I love it. I love doing it for my clients and helping them to feel better.

"I really appreciate what I do, helping people and I want to give the most benefit to them."

Having originally worked from home during the pandemic, Kannika moved to the salon at The Square in 2021, and says it has been perfect for expanding her client base.

"I love being here in Kenilworth. It is a very caring place and people are really nice," she added.

"I really appreciate being one of the people here and doing what I am doing here.

"The salon is great, and really comfortable. We are very busy which is great."

As well as offering Thai massage, she also offers Chakra balancing, as well as semi-permanent beauty treatments.

And she also hosts regular charity days, with discounted massage rates and all the money going to local causes.
