The Mayor of Kenilworth has visited the newly refurbished Specsavers to find out more about a new piece of state-of-the-art equipment.

The store, at The Square, completed its renovations at the beginning of the year which saw the shop increase by 50 per cent as well as giving it a complete makeover.

As well as seeing the new interior, Cllr Sam Louden-Cooke was also able to hear more about the newly installed optical coherence tomography (OCT) machine.

The hospital-grade equipment provides a detailed 3D structural scan of the eye.

It includes layers that would not normally be visible using traditional eye testing techniques, meaning optometrists can detect potential eye disease up to four years earlier than before.

"It was brilliant to welcome the town mayor to the store,' says Specsavers Kenilworth store director, Ambreena Bhatti.

"We've been part of the community since 2009 and are proud to offer the very best optical and audiology care to local people.

"The new-look store means our customers can be sure of a warm welcome and an efficient and professional experience when they come and see us."

Speaking about the OCT machine she added: "It's a hugely valuable addition to the store and we were delighted to be able to demonstrate it's capabilities to the mayor."
