Man charged with rape and sexual activity with a child after incident in Southam

A man from Birmingham has been charged with two counts of rape and sexual activity with a child following an incident in Southam.

On the evening of Tuesday, 9 July, a female was walking along the Daventry Road on the Junction with the Southam bypass when she was reportedly attacked.

Gurmal Singh, 28, of Arden Road in Acocks Green, Birmingham, was arrested and has subsequently been charged with sexual activity with a child, two counts of rape and assault.

Officers are appealing for witnesses following the incident.

"Anyone who saw any suspicious behaviour in that area between 6pm and 8pm is asked call 101 or visit Report | Warwickshire Police citing incident 10 of 16/07/2024," a force statement said.
