Launch of 'Kenilworth Revealed' augmented reality project just weeks away

The launch of an exciting new project which will bring Kenilworth's historic abbey ruins back to life is just weeks away.
Kenilworth Town Council's augmented reality project will allow locals to use their smart phones in Abbey Fields to see how the Augustinian abbey would have looked in the 16th century.
And speaking at last week's council meeting, Cllr Alan Chalmers gave an update on 'Kenilworth Revealed', which will be officially launched in the first week of November.
"The launch has been moved to November 7 rather than the first, we thought Friday was more appropriate," he said.
"All the filming has now been done."
He continued: "One of the scenes we had children playing medieval games. We had the Talisman Theatre's youth theatre, and the kids were absolutely wonderful."

First testing of the system is due to start this week, and plaques which will form part of the project will be installed in Abbey Fields in October.
Kenilworth's MP Sir Jeremy Wright has featured in the clips alongside councillors, council staff and local children.
A 'matching game' is also being designed to allow users to match a 'medieval logo' to the names of real local shops.
Kenilworth Revealed has benefited from a grant of £98,500 from the HS2 Business & Local Economy Fund.
Once complete, the technology will allow guests to see, not only the Abbey in 1500, but also the canons and Kenilworth townsfolk going about their daily tasks both within and outside the Abbey walls.
