New plans for the site of a former £20 million family attraction have been revealed.
Bear Grylls Adventure at Birmingham's National Exhibition Centre closed in December 2024 after six years.
Merlin Entertainments – which ran the centre for thrill seekers – blamed “commercial challenges” and the lasting impact of the pandemic.
After its closure, 1,000 marine animals including sharks, rays, and tropical fish were re-homed to the National Sea Life Centre in Birmingham, as well as other UK Sea Life sites.
The site, which housed 11 experiences including a 65ft high-rope course and shark dives, was cleared in the summer.
In August Solihull planners approved a plan to rever the use to an exhibition hall.
But the NEC applied on Tuesday, October 21, for the site to become a visitor attraction once again.
Few details have been revealed for the site of 7,137 sqm comprising The Pavilion located within the NEC complex.
The application was also for minor external alterations including a new entrance porch, signage and landscaping.
And a design of a new look frontage was included in the plans, which included LED video screens.
A consultation is expected to begin shortly which will give interested parties the chance to comment on the plans.
