Crackley Wood in Kenilworth has received another prestigious Green Flag Award in recognition of the fantastic management of the green space.

Awarded by Keep Britain Tidy, 2,100 parks have received the accolade this year.

Fellow Warwick District space Jephson Gardens and Mill Gardens has also won the award, for the fifteenth consecutive year, alongside Oakley Wood.

Jephson Gardens has also received the Green Heritage Site Accreditation for good conservation standards and the prominence of historic features.

2021 marks the 25th anniversary of the Green Flag Awards, and the fourth consecutive year that Warwick District Council has won three awards.

To win an award a site must first apply and then and then show an in person inspector around the green space.

Cllr Alan Rhead said this week's announcement was particularly poignant given the importance green spaces have played in the last 18 months.

"To receive these Green Flag Awards from Keep Britain Tidy once again is a truly outstanding achievement and clearly demonstrates that local people and visitors to Warwick district are benefitting from green spaces of the very highest quality.

"I would like to pay tribute to the Council's Green Spaces Team, contractors idVerde, the Warwickshire Wildlife Trust and the many Friends and volunteers who come out in all weathers to assist us in maintaining and improving these wonderful places."
