A Kenilworth singer-songwriter has released her latest single which she wrote over a year ago during the winter lockdown.

'Call Me Baby' by Darcy Blu is a track about having a crush on someone and was actually written with another artist in mind.

But Darcy decided to release the track herself to push her boundaries from her usual ballads.

"It's a fun flirtatious track about having a crush on someone (classic me)," she said.

"When I wrote it I actually wrote it in the mindset of giving it to another pop artist as it is much more fun and flirty compared to my usual writing style based around heartbreak, but I ended up falling in love with the track as it made me feel so happy and excited.

"When we were out of lockdown I took the demo to my producer Louis Takooree and the whole thing came to life.

"It made me realise that pushing myself out of my comfort zone when it comes to writing and what I am writing about can work wonders!"

Since Darcy released her last track 'Last Train Home' in November she has also returned to live performances again.

And having sold out her first ever show, things are going from strength to strength.

"It's so fun and surreal to be back," she said.

"The first big full band gig in November literally felt like a pinch me moment, the audience were singing all the words to all of my songs.

"I woke up the next day on cloud nine it didn't feel real. I have also recently just played a sold out show in Camden which was amazing too, my first ever official sold out show!"

Darcy, who played he first ever live gig at the Priory Theatre in Kenilworth aged nine, said she is more inspired to write and perform now than she has ever been.

"Just being able to live more of a 'normal' life again as a 20-something-year-old is much more inspiring than this time last year that's for sure," she added.
