The fallen lime tree in Abbey Fields will remain in place for the foreseeable future as Warwick District Council deals with a "high volume" of tree works following last month's storms.

The mighty lime was brought down on Friday, February 18 during Storm Eunice.

"Our green spaces team is dealing with a high volume of tree works following the gales," a WDC spokesperson said.

"The lime tree referred to is down and has been made safe.

"It will be cleared as soon as possible."

A number of other trees in the town were also brought down as the Met Office issued an amber weather warning for high winds.

Another came down across Windy Arbour, blocking the road completely.

Tree surgeons from Tree Wise Men were on hand to clear the road and reopen it to traffic on the same day.
