A planned closure of Crewe Lane in Kenilworth this week has been pushed back as residents fear traffic chaos in the town.

Warwickshire County Council had confirmed the closure of the road from Monday 13 January until Friday 24 January for new street lights to be installed.

But with HS2 closing the nearby Dalehouse Lane this week, the Crewe Lane works have been pushed back.

Kenilworth Town Council confirmed the change on Wednesday (January 15).

Locals had taken to social media to vent their frustration that the two roads out of town could be closed at the same time.

The new date for the Crewe Lane works has yet to be confirmed.

Local councillors have repeatedly called on the county council and HS2 to communicate and co-ordinate local road closures so multiple routes in and out of town are not shut at the same time.
