The Queen & Castle in Kenilworth has reopened following a major refurbishment.

The Castle Road pub closed at the start of July for five weeks for the £700,000 job and has now opened its doors once again with a top to tail transformation, taking inspiration from the UK's most luxurious country dining and drinking hotspots.

Sitting opposite Kenilworth Castle, the pub has also taken inspiration from town's main tourist attraction with colours and traditional wallpapers coming with royal connotations.

New furniture and wine walls have also been brought in "to create a luxurious yet intimate feel".

The outside has been elevated and will now be open for use year-round with fixed seating scattered amongst planters, botanical archways, and a stretch tent providing additional covered seating.

And the pub has expanded its already-popular menu, with head chef Nexhat Zhegrova - who has been with the pub for seven years - bringing fresh flavours inspired by the seasons and modern world-food trends; enjoy a broad range of premium grill dishes, Asian influences, plus plenty of healthier and lower calorie options.

The new decor has been inspired by Kenilworth Castle

General manager, Bethan Angwin said: "I've been general manager at the Queen & Castle for two years now – our location has always been a selling point, and with this new makeover, we're fully embracing it!

"The new look is absolutely stunning – I can't wait to welcome our regulars back through the doors to show them the results. I know that new guests will be impressed too – and I imagine we will have a lot of them when word gets around.

"Our outdoor area has been revamped, and we now have a beautiful seating terrace and garden that our guests can use throughout the year, no matter the weather.

"We also have a private room that seats up to 12 guests, which is ideal for those celebrating a special occasion, or looking for a more personal dining experience – the private dining room comes with amazing views of the castle too, which will make any occasion that bit more special!"

To make the weekends extra special, guests will be able to share a Chateaubriand and a bottle of fine wine, such as Premier Cru Burgundy or Rioja Gran Reserva, for a delicious and indulgent treat.

The pub was closed for five weeks to allow the £700,000 refurb to take place

Roast dinners at the Queen & Castle are not to be missed – on Sundays, diners can enjoy a hearty roast with all the trimmings with family and friends.

There's also plenty of delectable deserts to choose from, including the Sicilian Lemon Posset and Melting Chocolate Bomb.

The lunch menu includes dishes under 650 calories, hand stretched stone baked pizzas and freshly prepared sandwiches.

A brunch menu of classic favourites and healthy alternatives is also be served from 9am on Saturdays and Sundays.

The extensive cocktail menu includes "classics with a twist", such as a Koko Colada, martinis and a selection of spritz.
