A Kenilworth pub has applied to keep its outside seating for another two years.

The Abbey Field has submitted an application to Warwick District Council (WDC) for permission to renew its pavement licence.

The High Street eatery already has seating for up to 14 people to the front of the premises, but needs permission from the local authority to keep them there as its current licence is close to running out.

Plans, submitted earlier this week, show the tables would be permitted for use from 11am to 11pm seven days per week outside the Chef & Brewer establishment.

The four tables would take up just 2.5 metres of the pavement, leaving almost double that for pedestrians to walk past.

New laws on pavement licences were brought into effect in the summer of 2020 to make it easier for businesses to apply for permission to put furniture outside during the pandemic.

Local residents can have their say on the plans here.
