A Kenilworth Post Office has applied for permission to sell alcohol seven days a week.

The Abbey End store has submitted a licence application to Warwick District Council (WDC), months after it was taken over by Sukhi Sidhu and her husband Avtar 'Sid'.

If approved, the licence will allow the shop to sell alcohol from 8am to 11pm, Monday to Sunday.

The application says alcohol would only be purchased for consumption off site.

Residents have until May 23 to have their say on the application.

Sukhi and Sid also run the award winning St John's Budgens and Post Office on Roseland Road, and officially took over the Post Office on Thursday 22 June 2023.

When they took over the Abbey End store, Sid told Nub News they would be doing something "unique" with the business.

"Once we launch it properly it will be something new, fresh and innovative for a Post Office," he said last year.

"We try and push the boundaries in what we try to achieve.

"We pride ourselves on our customer service and are well known for it. And now we will be looking to stamp that on our new location."

The couple's existing Budgens store has won multiple awards, and has been named in the top 100 independent retailers in the UK and Ireland for the last nine years.
