The Kenilworth Poppy Appeal has collected a record-breaking total of over £30,000 this year.

Whilst the exact amount will not be confirmed until the new year, the appeal has already announced that this year's total will be nearly double what was received in 2020.

And with so many people volunteering in 2021, appeal organisers have been quick to thank both the generosity of the town and the support of residents.

Co-ordinated Debbie Cox said: "This is a record-breaking year for our town.

"A huge thank you for your help - without our volunteers this team's efforts would not have been possible.

"The funds raised will go to help support our current armed forces personnel, their families and those who have served."

2021 also saw the appeal's youngest volunteer, four-year-old Sophie Cartwright, spend her Saturday afternoons collecting in Talisman Square with her parents Jamie and Laura.

To thank her for her efforts the local poppy appeal asked her to lay its wreath at the Remembrance Sunday service in November.

If you would like to join the Kenilworth branch of the RBL, it meets at 11am every second Sunday of the month at the Copper House Club on Albion Street.
