Here are the biggest local planning stories from the past week.

Woodside Saga

Plans to demolish the Woodside Hotel to make way for a block of flats and 43 houses have been resubmitted to Warwick District Council (WDC).

Developer Vistry was last year refused permission to flatten the former manor house, with councillors criticising the sustainability of the proposed homes.

Supermarket Saga

Long-awaited plans to open two new discount supermarkets in Balsall Common are now expected this summer.

Supermarket giant Aldi has applied for planning permission to build a new unit on the west side of Kenilworth Road, while competitor Lidl has applied to build its own store on the opposite side of the road.

Nub News reported last year, the two schemes - one of which will see a car garage demolished to make way - would not be determined until the new local plan is adopted.
