Here are the biggest local planning stories from the past week.
Wetherspoon Update
Pub giant Wetherspoon has yet again revealed changes to plans for its new pub in Kenilworth, some two years after first announcing the new venue.
Already with planning permission to turn the former Poundland unit at the Square into a new pub, work on site is still yet to start.
And while a licence application was granted in November 2022, Wetherspoon has now submitted updated plans to Warwick District Council for approval.
Aldi's Future
The long wait for a new Aldi supermarket in Balsall Common could come to an end next year, an update from a local councillor has revealed.
Taking to social media, Cllr Richard Drake told locals a meeting had been held with Berkswell and Balsall Parish councillors and the Aldi property director.
Supermarket giant Aldi has applied for planning permission to build a new unit on the west side of Kenilworth Road, while competitor Lidl has applied to build its own store on the opposite side of the road.
Local Plan
Proposed national reforms could require the districts of Stratford-on-Avon and Warwick to find room for 30 per cent more new homes than anticipated.
District councillors from both patches were presented with the stark figures during an update on the emerging South Warwickshire Local Plan (SWLP) with the leading officers of both authorities agreeing that new government proposals threaten to "drive a coach and horses" through the work done so far.
The SWLP will set out how new housing is catered for and plan for where it will go through to 2050, bringing together two areas that currently have their own local plans.
