Here are the biggest local planning stories from the past week.

Kenilworth School Keys

Kenilworth School has officially been given the keys to its new Glasshouse Lane home, in time for the move across town this September.

With construction work now complete at the multi-million-pound school, Kenilworth Multi Academy Trust (KMAT) can now get the process of moving from its current sites at Leyes Lane and Rouncil Lane underway.

Building work on the Glasshouse Lane school began in May 2021.

Major Estate Planned

Hundreds of homes could be coming to Balsall Common if ambitious plans to build a whole new village neighbourhood are approved.

The 970 proposed homes - put forward by Harris Strategic Land and Colchurch Properties - would sit alongside the HS2 line cutting through rural Solihull.

Plans were lodged with Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council in July to build the homes on green space between Station Road and Waste Lane.

Retirement Community

Plans for an integrated retirement community and care home in Balsall Common have been revealed.

Restful Homes Developments Ltd has applied for planning permission for the major development off Oxhayes Close.

If approved, the scheme would see a field behind a residential street turned into a 62-bed care home and 90 extra care rooms.
