Here are the biggest local planning stories from the past week.

New Restaurant

Plans to turn a former Kenilworth charity shop into a restaurant have been signed off by Warwick District Council (WDC).

Loungers UK Ltd first revealed the scheme for the former Shakespeare's Hospice Shop in September, submitting a planning application to convert the vacant unit into a "café/bar/restaurant".

Road Names

The memory of three Kenilworth locals who were sadly taken too young has been honoured with the naming of three streets on a new housing estate in the town.

Street names have now been confirmed for the Southcrest Rise development on Glasshouse Lane, where developer Miller Homes is currently building 99 homes.

The first homeowners moved into their new properties at the estate earlier this year, and as work on the development continues, the road signs have started to be put in place.

Stadium Inquiry

The planning inspector tasked with deciding the fate of Coventry Stadium has been urged to consider convictions secured against the landowners over its state of disrepair.

Brandon Estates launched an appeal against Rugby Borough Council’s refusal of planning permission for 124 homes, a 3G football pitch and pavilion at the derelict home of the Coventry Bees speedway team and stock car racing.

Planning inspector Helen Hockenhull will now consider the evidence against the areas of disagreement laid out at the start of the inquiry.

After months of work on site the store will welcome in customers from 9am, giving them the chance to peruse the value home, leisure and garden products on offer.

Following The Range's £5 million purchase of the Wilko brand in September, there is also a selection of discounted products from the Wilko range on offer at the new South Warwickshire store.
