Kenilworth planning roundup: HS2, Station Road and pub's revamp
Here are the biggest local planning stories from the past week.
Closed Road to Community Space
Work is well underway to pedestrianise a closed section of a Kenilworth town centre road.
Having been closed since 2020, the end of Station Road has now been blocked off fully, with the pavement along Warwick Road continuing right across the disused turning.
The temporary pocket park has also been removed, with permanent planters and benches currently being installed.
Pub's Revamp
Plans have been submitted for a significant refurbishment of a Grade II listed pub in Knowle.
Applicant Mitchells & Butlers Retail Ltd applied to Solihull Council for the refurb of The Red Lion in High Street earlier this week.
The Red Lion dates back to the 17th century and has been extended and rebuilt at various points over the years.
A46 Closure Nears
The three-week closure of the A46 for a new HS2 to be moved into place is likely to take place in May, a Kenilworth Town Council report has said.
However, the final date of the works will not be confirmed until after the two weekend closures of the dual carriageway this February.
The A46 will be shut between Coventry and Thickthorn on the weekends of February 7-9 and February 14-17 for preparatory works.
