Here are the biggest local planning stories from the past week.

HS2 Bridge

Plans to build a 90-metre bridge to carry HS2 over the existing West Coast Mainline near Kenilworth have been given the green light by the borough council.

The high speed rail developer's designs for the 'Carol Green Rail Underbridge' have been signed off, meaning HS2 can now start building the structure along the Kenilworth Greenway.

Plans show the bridge will have acoustic barriers on both sides, and will be built on land sandwiched between Truggist Lane and Kenilworth Road - on the outskirts of Balsall Common.

Abbey Fields Moves Forward

The new swimming pools in Abbey Fields will now set the district council back £22 million, with construction work set to start again on site in March.

The town's new leisure centre is now expected to be completed by the summer of 2026 after an agreement was reached with developers Kier.

Roundabout Works

Works to build a new roundabout on a busy Kenilworth road are expected to start this April.

The four-arm roundabout will be built on Glasshouse Lane as part of the new Stoneleigh View housing estate, which is already under construction.

The new junction, which will also include the entrance to Stansfield Grove, will be built by contractors appointed by Warwickshire County Council.
