Police have issued a warning to residents today (February 9) after the driver of a BMW had to be rescued from his car after driving into a flooded piece of road.

Emergency services were needed to rescue the driver on Hill Wootton Road, Blackdown, with police and firefighters called to the scene.

"BMW do make some wonderful cars but what they don't have on sale for your everyday motorist is an amphibious vehicle you can nip to town in," Kenilworth and Warwick Rural Police said.

"No matter what make/model of vehicle you own, please don't drive through flooded sections of road.

"Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service had to rescue the driver from this vehicle on Hill Wootton Road, Blackdown.

"Be mindful of surface water and flooding when out on the roads today, and in the coming days. It's not worth the risk."

Flood warnings have been issued across South Warwickshire today, following days of heavy rainfall.
