Here are the biggest local planning stories from the past week.

(Another) HS2 Bridge

HS2 has revealed its designs for a 78-metre-long bridge planned to carry Crackley Lane over the new rail line.

The high speed developer has submitted its plans for the Crackley Lane Overbridge to Warwick District Council (WDC).

The HS2 Act decrees the bridge will be built at some point, but the council needs to sign off on certain aspects of the design.

New Homes Criticised

Town councillors have maintained their objection to detailed plans for 143 new houses in Kenilworth, saying concerns have not been "satisfactorily addressed".

Kenilworth Town Council objected to Persimmon Homes' reserved matters application for the next phase of its Thickthorn development at the start of 2024, questioning the amount of greenspace and the impact on traffic.

Members at Kenilworth Town Council's planning committee at the start of March said there was still work to be done before the latest plans should be approved.

Student Accommodation

A huge student accommodation block will be built in Westwood Heath despite an outcry from locals.

The 544-bed building got the go-ahead after government planning chiefs overturned a decision by the council last week (8 March).

It means an office in Westwood Business Park will be knocked down and the block, six storeys at its highest point, will be built in its place.
