Kenilworth’s Wetherspoon ‘incredibly proud’ as it marks first anniversary

The manager of Kenilworth's Wetherspoon pub has thanked the community for its support as the town centre business celebrates a year since it first opened.
Wednesday (July 28) was the first anniversary for The Dictum of Kenilworth which finally opened its doors in 2025 in the former Poundland unit at The Square.
After years of rumours and then work on site, the chain pub welcomed pubgoers from across the town as well as from further afield on its first day of business.
A year on, pub manager Thomas Clarke has looked back at a successful first year in business.
"One year ago, we opened our doors with the hope of creating a welcoming pub that would become part of the fabric of the town," he told Nub News.
"Looking back over the last 365 days, we're incredibly proud of what we've achieved and, more importantly, grateful for the support we've received from the people of Kenilworth and everyone who has visited this wonderful town.
"From day one, our aim has never been to simply open another pub.
"We wanted to become part of the community, to work alongside other local businesses, support local events and charities, donate prizes where we could, and play a positive role in helping Kenilworth continue to thrive.
"We genuinely feel we've been welcomed with open arms, and that's something we'll never take for granted.
"We genuinely have the best customers and the people in this town have been amazing."
The pub has been open for 365 days in a row, including Christmas Day, and says it has received "overwhelming" feedback.
The team has thanked the "incredibly rewarding" positive reviews from customers.
Thomas continued: "We're incredibly proud of the team we've built and everything they've helped us achieve over the past year.
"Although we're not holding a big anniversary event, that's very much by choice.
"We'd rather celebrate in the way we've always tried to operate – by opening our doors as normal and continuing to provide the same warm welcome, reliable service and consistency that our customers have come to expect.
"We'd simply love to invite anyone who hasn't visited us recently to pop in over the coming week, whether that's for a coffee, lunch, dinner or a drink with friends.
"This anniversary isn't just a celebration for us; it feels like a celebration of the support the Kenilworth community has shown us over the last year."
