Kenilworth planning roundup: green belt homes, holiday home and speed limit changes
By James Smith 27th Jun 2026
Here are the biggest local planning stories from the past week.
Red Lane Homes
Plans to build two new homes on a piece of green belt land in Burton Green have been submitted to Warwick District Council.
Stoneway Estates Ltd has applied for planning permission for the houses on Red Lane.
The application site is next to another plot which already has approval for two dwellings.
Junction Limit
The speed limit around the new Stoneleigh A46 junction is likely to be reduced once the roadworks eventually conclude.
Four years behind schedule, the works around the dual carriageway junction resumed earlier this year and are due to be completed in 2027.
Warwickshire County Council has now revealed it wants to reduce the speed limit on Stoneleigh Road and Birmingham Road to 50mph from 60mph when the new road layout is finished.

Holiday Home's Future
A local water tower which was converted into a holiday let could soon be turned into a permanent home.
Planning permission for the redundant tower in Burton Green to be turned into a quirky holiday home was approved by Warwick District Council in 2016.
When the scheme was approved, a condition was agreed that the building only be occupied by one user for up to six weeks.
