Here are the biggest Kenilworth planning stories from the past week.

Major Estate Plans

Detailed plans to build 452 houses in the land between Leamington Road and Glasshouse Lane have been submitted to Warwick District Council.

Councillors granted outline permission for the scheme in December 2021, and developer Charles Church has now submitted a reserved matters application for the development.

As part of the application approved in 2021 for the land at Thickthorn, the council signed off fully on a further 98 homes which are already under construction.

This latest application includes plans for hundreds of homes, as well as a new spine road, school, community centre and retail unit.

Car Showroom

Plans to build a new car showroom on Farmer Ward Road have been approved by Warwick District Council.

The scheme for the Bridge Works building will see a commercial unit built between the existing building and the boundary wall to "diversify" the offering at the property.

Initial plans also included two second-floor flats but this part of the scheme was scrapped as it was "was not considered acceptable" by the council.

Farm to Pub

A 300-year-old farm in rural Solihull is set to be turned into a pub and restaurant after planning permission was granted by the borough council.

Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council has given permission for Tidbury Green Farm in Earlswood to be turned into an eatery called 'The Mallard'.

The owners say they hope to create a "charming country pub in buildings steeped with history", with a rich wine list and creative menu.

Extra Homes Axed

Plans to include four extra houses at a major new estate being built in Kenilworth have been withdrawn two years after they were first put forward.

Bovis Homes had applied to Warwick District Council to substitute seven three-bed houses for three five-beds at its Pavilions development near Kenilworth Cricket Club.

The Warwick Road estate was first given outline planning permission in September 2018 for 125 homes.
