Permission granted for Earlswood farm to become pub and restaurant
A 300-year-old farm in rural Solihull is set to be turned into a pub and restaurant after planning permission was granted by the borough council.
Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council has given permission for Tidbury Green Farm in Earlswood to be turned into an eatery called 'The Mallard'.
The owners say they hope to create a "charming country pub in buildings steeped with history", with a rich wine list and creative menu.
The Mallard is a Brunning & Price project, the company behind The Physician pub in Edgbaston.
And the name has been inspired by the farm's duck pond.
The application, which was launched back in April 2022, did receive some objections about noise disturbance and odour from cooking, but the council said the benefits outweighed the harm.
The venture has also won over Tidbury Green Parish Council, which said the new pub would be an "excellent facility" that will have a positive impact on the local community.
In a letter to the council, it added the pub could become "a focal point for people to meet, relax, and socialise".
Nicola Stuart of Brunning & Price told the Local Democracy Reporting Service the timeline towards opening has had to be adjusted due to the length of time it has taken to get planning permission.
She said: "The project was dealt with under delegated powers and was approved last week. As this process has taken a long time we are currently re-costing the building works as things have very much moved on financially since we initially costed up the renovation."
