Kenilworth planning roundup: 4,000 new homes, developer's appeal and defibrillator
By James Smith 21st Feb 2026
Here are the biggest local planning stories from the past week.
Public Consultation
Residents have until the end of March to have their say on thousands of new homes near Kenilworth.
Warwick District Council has launched a public consultation on the Kings Hill Masterplan - a major planning document which will ultimately govern how some 4,000 homes are built near Stoneleigh.
The local authority has launched the six-week window for public feedback until 27 March 2026.
Developer's Appeal
The developer behind plans for 140 new homes on Westwood Heath Road has launched an appeal after councillors refused to grant planning permission for the development.
Warwick District Council's (WDC) planning committee last year narrowly voted against the application from IM Land 1 Limited, despite council officers saying the scheme should be approved.
Members were split over the decision after council officers warned them the council cannot demonstrate a five-year housing supply.
Defibrillator Decision
Council planners must give the green light before a new defibrillator can be installed in Kenilworth.
An application asking for listed building consent has been submitted to Warwick District Council for the machine to be installed at The Stables opposite Kenilworth Castle.
Plans state the defibrillator would be installed on the office building on Castle Hill by Kenilworth HeartSafe.
