Kenilworth planning roundup: 330 homes, traveller site and developer's bid

Here are the biggest local planning stories from the past week.
Have Your Say on Homes
Locals can have their say on plans to build 330 homes in Hockley Heath.
Plans for the development are already in motion as developer Taylor Wimpey has been told by Warwick District Council it must produce an 'environmental impact assessment' before a full planning application is submitted for the development off Aylesbury Road.
The developer says all the homes will be low carbon, with air source heat pumps, solar panels and EV charging points.
Traveller Site
A planning inspector has granted planning permission for a traveller camp to remain in place despite it being built without permission.
Leslie Smith has won his appeal to keep the development on Henley Road, Norton Lindsey after a protracted process of enforcement notices and planning applications.
The hearing was held at the end of July to discuss the application which was submitted after construction began in May 2024.
Developer Gets Its Way
A housing developer has been given the green light to add extra homes to a new Kenilworth housing estate.
Persimmon Homes has been given the go ahead to add five extra houses to the next phase of its development at Thickthorn.
Warwick District Council signed off on the plans this month, meaning the company can build 149 homes, instead of the 144 previously agreed.
