Traffic from New Homes?

Councillors have said they need more information on how 144 new homes will impact roads in Kenilworth before they sign off on them.

After over an hour of debate on Tuesday (May 21) Warwick District Council's planning committee decided to defer a decision on Persimmon Homes' latest application for new houses at Thickthorn - despite officers saying the scheme should be given the green light.

Members of the public and Kenilworth Town Council spoke against the development, saying it would have a "significant" impact on already-congested local roads, especially St John's roundabout.

Nightclub

Town councillors have objected to a scheme that would see a Leamington nightclub flattened to make way for more student accommodation.

Ni Ann Ltd has submitted an application to demolish Smack - which remains open for business - and replace it with a five-storey building with "purpose-built" apartments.

The developer claims replacing the Tavistock Street club with 48 bedrooms would be better for the area.

New Restaurant

Loungers plc, the West Country-based café/bar group, is gearing up to open 'Fossato Lounge' in Kenilworth on Saturday 29 June 2024 after weeks of work converting a former charity shop.

Planning permission to turn the former Shakespeare's Hospice shop into a restaurant was signed off by Warwick District Council last year, with an alcohol licence also signed off.

The Lounge will be open all day, every day for breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner and drinks, including full kids', gluten-free and vegan menus, served in a "relaxed, welcoming space".
