Kenilworth planning roundup: Barn's second life, eco park and 2,500 new houses

Below are the key Kenilworth planning applications recently received or discussed by Warwick District Council.

Eco park plans

Kenilworth Town Council has demanded better communication from the University of Warwick over plans to build a 48-hectare eco-park.

With Burton Green residents offered a public presentation on the plans, councillors have asked why Kenilworth is not being treated the same.

2,500 new houses

Plans to build 2,500 new houses in Stoneleigh have finally been given the green light, two years after councillors approved the plans.

Warwick District Council's planning committee voted in favour of the houses and two new schools back in December 2019, but the Section 106 agreement was only completed last month.

Barn's second life

A Grade II listed barn in Kenilworth could get a new lease of life by its owners.

New windows, roof lights, tiles and internal alterations are all planned for the barn at Goodrest Manor House on Rouncil Lane.

The owners even want to reinstate the original doors.

Tree must stay in place

The council has refused permission to fell a Horse Chestnut tree in Lower Ladyes Hills.

WDC said: "The tree made a very significant contribution toward the local amenity and was readily visible from a wide range of public view points."
