For the Three Kenilworth lads behind Retro Rewind: 80s vs 90s Showdown, it is not just an event, it is something they have "genuinely poured themselves into".

They have spent months shaping a night full of nostalgia, laughs, and proper community spirit, and it is all heading to Coventry's iconic HMV Empire on Friday 27 March.

Craig Shilton, Director of Let It Be Live, explains what's been driving the team: "I've always wanted to put a show together alongside the amazing people from the town where I grew up. Meeting these guys and seeing the passion they have for their art is inspiring.

"The ideas that have bounced around the table during planning sessions have been incredible - funny, creative, engaging, and full of energy. We absolutely cannot wait to see everyone at the show."

The team promises the night is "so much more than a gig".

It is set to be a full-on retro experience: big 80s vs 90s music battles, a retro photo booth for capturing the chaos, "glow stick mayhem", and "huge" sing-alongs to the songs "everyone secretly still knows by heart".

On the decks is DJ Ross Moran, well-known around Kenilworth for his "epic" nights from House, Trance, 80s, 90s, Indie, and everything in between.

He will be bringing that same hometown energy to the Empire and you can expect floor-fillers, guilty pleasures, and mixes that turn nostalgia into pure adrenaline.

"If you were lucky enough to see them at the recent sold out Fringe Festival event at The Holiday Inn, Kenilworth, you will know that they are guaranteed to take things up a gear," the team said.

"Their shows are high-energy, full of crowd favourites, and built for singing your heart out. It's the soundtrack of your youth, played with real passion and proper showmanship."

"Demetri brings humour, charisma, and that natural stage presence that makes the whole night feel effortless."

Steering the ship is Craig Shiltonwho is a Kenilworth musician, former Director of Music for Kenfest 2024 & 2025, creator of Kenfest Calling, and the driving force behind Let It Be Live Events.

Craig has gained a reputation for not only championing local talent, but also bringing big names to the region, working with artists such as Judge Jules: Live (featuring Marcella Woods), Horace Panter (The Specials), Aitch Bembridge (The Selecter), Grammy Award winner Roger Lomas, and The Killerz - one of the UK's top Killers tributes who recently smashed the stage at the HMV Empire for one of his other events.

Retro Rewind is the next step in that journey. Four Kenilworth creatives. Two iconic decades. One massive party.
