A Kenilworth couple have launched their own home healthcare business aimed at bringing a "family-feel" to the way they look after their clients.

Andy and Amy Legg launched Honest Senior Care in July 2022 and are now looking after ten people across South Coventry, Kenilworth and South Warwickshire.

The business was founded on the back of Amy's 15 years experience in the care industry which began with her working with disabled children.

Andy told Nub News that the couple have been thinking about what was next for them for some time, and said the chance to take voluntary redundancy at work had come at the perfect time.

"I was working at a big corporate firm, at Amazon, as an operations manager going round the company and opening up new sites," he explained.

"That was basically keeping me away from home for a long time, 15 hours a day, five days a week.

"We have always spoken about the fact that there is something else for us to do, we never thought that I was just going to stay with Amazon until I retired.

"This was a little bit of divine intervention I suppose to give us that push to go and do what it was that we had always wanted to do."

Having looked at what they could offer, Amy and Andy began researching the local care market and spotted a niche for a small, high-quality provider.

Honest Senior Care provides a range of services from dementia and respite care to companionship and even monthly afternoon tea.

And Andy said the name 'honest' encompassed all they are trying to achieve.

"We were sitting on the sofa thinking about what we would call the business, and the most important thing to us was the 'honest' bit," Andy Added.

"That was the value for us - wanting to be a small, family-led care provider that feels like family for the client - and I think honesty rings through with those values."

And despite having to take the "scary" step to leave his job at Amazon and move into a completely new sector, Andy said "everything so far has been great".

"We have been a bit overwhelmed really by the amount of interest that we have had really," he said.

"It has gone really well but has obviously been a big learning curve for myself and for Amy.

"We are juggling a lot of plates while also doing things we haven't done before.

"But it has been great to be getting out there and providing the service to the people and then growing and bringing other people into it as well."
