Kenilworth councillor leaves Lib Dems

A Kenilworth councillor has left the Liberal Democrat group at Warwick District Council (WDC).
Cllr Josh Payne is set to stand as an independent after leaving the second-biggest group at Leamington Town Hall.
The move leaves the Lib Dems with nine seats at WDC, behind the Greens who have 15.
The Cubbington and Leek Wootton Ward councillor has not commented publicly on the reason for the split. Nor has the Lib Dem group released a statement.
Cllr Payne also sits on Kenilworth Town Council in the Borrowell Ward.
He remains listed as a Lib Dem on the town council website, but is marked as an independent by the district.
Cllr Josh Payne and the WDC Lib Dem group have been contacted for comment.
